The Richness of Our Nature…

On my recent field trip to Koh Kong province, I got the chance to expose myself to the beauty of nature at the mangrove protected eco-tourist site in Peam Krosob located not far from Koh Kong provincial town. It is a good moment to recall the memories of such trip last year on almost the same dates. After the trip, what remains in me is the appreciation of the richness of our nature and its beauty that we as the citizens of the earth should always be protected for our next generation.

When one wanders around the concrete bridge that lead the tourists into the mangrove area, one cannot stop our mind and self from appreciating the spectacular beauty of nature. The water is so clear and calm is reflecting against the greenly beauty of the mangroves. Mangrove areas are the nest and spaces for the numerous sea resources particularly home for shrimps and crabs. Along the bridge, if one looks close enough into the water, s/he will see that there are so many fish swimming around in crowd and will be chased away by our little sound. The place where it is muddy and so little water, the movement of crab and shrimps can just lighten your heart as city people rarely get the chance to see lives of such animals apart from seeing them at the markets or in the shop ready to be …

The stream that split the hand of the sea covered by the mangrove areas from the entrance is connected by a beautify stringy bridge at the end of our walk along the concrete bridge. When standing on this String Bridge and looks out at every direction, what we can see is only the very beautiful green and calmness of the mangrove against the sea. My compatriot who accompanied me on the trip commented that I have been falling in love with the beauty of this area as evident by the countless number of photos of the scenery I have taken during the visit. Well, that is just true. Don’t forget to take few photos when you are going up the 4 floor of the towel where you can stand and see the endless eyesight of the area and the sea. The boat trip around the area even connects you closer to the nature. At the end of the trip, you can sit back and relax over a glass of fresh sugar can juice. That is all I want after the trip.

I feel proud to be able to see the area. I feel that this area should be exposed by everyone who love traveling, who loves nature, who loves to see something as real. If one wants to breath in the fresh air, be able to feel nice and relaxing with the nature, I would have no hesitation recommending you to visit this little area 7Km from Koh Kong provincial town. The local people who run the area through the organization of community eco-tourism site will surely benefits from every Riel you spend in the area but you would not regret spending it.

How do you wish to create an environment where you are the one that need to maintain that environment as well as benefit from and enjoy it? Do you create it you goes or do you set your plan and theme? or you let the time decide how it will evolve?  Since July 2024, I added different pieces to the so-called garden in the house, first started with 2 Jasmine flowers, follow by 1 yellow bell flower and two other yellow flower (not survived). As personal gifts for my house-warming, a friend sent me two Frangipani that were breed into yellow flower (below picture). This is June 2026, the last month of my six month long sabattical break. Six-month flies by so quickly but during this period, I am reflecting on three key terms which plays important part in how I spent the six months.
