Losing our thirst

As a Cambodian citizen, I was moved by stories in The Phnom Penh Post last week about the protests by women beer promoters employed by Cambrew. As a customer of the company, I was bitterly disappointed to learn it is unfairly and unlawfully paying its employees.

I am proud of the motto “My Country, My Beer”. But “My Country, My Beer” should be produced and promoted with respect for the labour rights of “My Workers”. I strongly urge Cambrew to take immediate action to comply with the Arbitration Council’s ruling and ensure fair wages and decent working conditions for its workers.

I am sure a large number of Cambrew customers will be carefully watching the company’s response to this matter before we decide to drink its beer again.

Sometimes I ask myself, “Is this my last post on social media?” But I always hesitate to write it because I’m afraid I won’t be able to do it. How do you wish to create an environment where you are the one that need to maintain that environment as well as benefit from and enjoy it? Do you create it you goes or do you set your plan and theme? or you let the time decide how it will evolve?  Since July 2024, I added different pieces to the so-called garden in the house, first started with 2 Jasmine flowers, follow by 1 yellow bell flower and two other yellow flower (not survived). As personal gifts for my house-warming, a friend sent me two Frangipani that were breed into yellow flower (below picture). This is June 2026, the last month of my six month long sabattical break. Six-month flies by so quickly but during this period, I am reflecting on three key terms which plays important part in how I spent the six months.
